Official: Barcelona pair expected to miss Osasuna clash as appeal rejected

La Liga leaders Barcelona have on Thursday been dealt something of a blow.

This comes amid confirmation that the club’s appeal to have their rescheduled La Liga meeting with Osasuna moved once more has been rejected.

Barcelona’s fixture against Osasuna, originally pencilled in for March 8th, was of course postponed at the last minute, owing to the sudden death of Blaugrana team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia.

La Liga and the RFEF, in turn, were left with the task of finding a suitable date for the matchup to be moved to.

This culminated in an agreement on March 27th as the date in question.

As much left those behind the scenes at Barcelona less than impressed, with the Blaugrana’s South American stars, in Raphinha and Ronald Araújo, expected to be unavailable owing to their commitments on the international front.

Joan Laporta and co. therefore launched an appeal to the powers that be in Spanish football, to have the clash rescheduled once more.

As alluded to above, however, this appeal has been rebuffed.

As per journalist Fabrizio Romano:

‘Barcelona vs Osasuna game will be played on March 27th, as the appeal has been rejected. Barça won’t have Araújo and Raphinha available as they will be busy with the national team.’
