Serie A club Bologna have officially announced the departure of Aaron Hickey, who has joined Premier League club Brentford on a permanent deal.
A statement on Bologna’s official website reads:
“Bologna Fc 1909 can now confirm that defender Aaron Hickey has joined Brentford FC on a permanent basis.”
As previously reported, Brentford have agreed to pay Bologna a transfer fee of around €22 million (including various bonuses) for the 20-year-old. The same report confirms that Hickey has signed a five-year contract with Brentford.
The Scotsman joined Bologna in 2020 and ended up making 48 appearances for the Italian club over two seasons in Italy. Other than that, the youngster also registered five assists under his name in Serie A.
The Bees finished the last season in 13th place in the Premier League after gaining promotion to the first tier of English football in the previous season. They are now interested in strengthening their squad further. Hickey will be looking forward to garnering loads of new experiences in the Premier League.
