Nottingham Forest’s Keylor Navas feels capable of winning the Champions League with PSG

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper and PSG loanee Keylor Navas (36) has opened the door to a return to the French capital for his final season next year. The Costa Rican international goalkeeper is tied with Paris Saint-Germain over a contract set to expire in 2024. Navas, a three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid (2016, 2017 and 2018), joined Forest on loan during the winter transfer window. Navas was Gianluigi Donnarumma’s understudy between the PSG sticks and was looking for more playing time.

With the Italian under contract with PSG until 2026, it would not be a surprise if PSG were to transfer-list Navas this summer in order to free up funds. However, the 36-year-old still believes he can turn the PSG goalkeepers’ hierarchy on its head and win the greatest trophy of all with Les Parisiens. “I feel capable of playing in any team”, Navas said to Canal+. “And we will see, in the future, what’s going on”.

Navas pointed out that he was the starting PSG goalkeeper for his first season, when the Thomas Tuchel-led side went all the way to play the Champions League final that they lost against Bayern Munich (0-1). The Costa Rican added he still feels able to win Europe’s showpiece club competition. “If I have to go back and play, I feel capable of winning the Champions League with PSG. When I was there, we had the opportunity. We played in a final that the club had never reached before.”
