Bayer Leverkusen suffered an injury setback in their 2-2 Champions League draw with Newcastle United on Wednesday, as Patrik Schick was forced off with an ankle injury.
The forward’s participation in Saturday’s derby against 1. FC Köln is now in serious doubt.
“It doesn’t look good. Patrik took a hard blow and has a large wound on his ankle,” said assistant coach Rogier Meijer, who was in charge on the sidelines while head coach Kasper Hjulmand was absent for personal reasons.
When asked about knock he suffered, Schick himself told Bild in the mixed zone that “it’s not good.”
Should the Czech international miss out, Christian Kofane will most likely step in up front.
