Barcelona have not given up hope of signing Nico Williams, despite his return to Athletic Club at the start of this week. That faith could soon be rewarded, with an imminent outcome on the matter to come soon.

That outcome will be very good for Barcelona, according to Sport. They claim that Williams has told club officials that he wants to join this summer.
This is what Barcelona have waited for all summer long, but they will have to wait a little longer for a deal to be made official. The signing of Dani Olmo, confirmed on Friday, means that there are insufficient funds to pay Williams’ €58m release clause at the moment. However, they hope to have enough by next week, at which point the move can go forward.
Williams would be a fantastic signing for Barcelona, of that there is no doubt. It’s now essential that club bosses secure the necessary funds to pay his release clause and make the move happen, because if not, they will be ruing the signing of Olmo, who was originally their second choice.
