Neymar’s entourage hoping forward can “become the best player in the world again”

With the headlines centred on Kylian Mbappé this summer, Neymar’s return to the fray at Paris Saint-Germain will have gone relatively unnoticed – not least given the lack of transfer interest for the Brazilian, who is under contract for another four years.

According to Le Parisien, the 31-year-old is well aware that the Ligue 1 champions have been looking to move him on in the last few months, not least given he is the last representative of the Galácticos-inspired approach that the club have been looking to move away from.

Having returned after a half-season absence in the wake of his reconstructive ankle surgery, Neymar was included in the PSG squad for the pre-season tour of Japan. It’s hoped that under Luis Enrique, who he worked with at Barcelona, the forward can return to the form he showed at the start of last season.

After publicly stating his intention to stay in the French capital, Neymar is keen to make his mark this season. According to Le Parisien, those in the former Blaugrana man’s entourage are hoping he can “become the best player in the world again”- a goal that the former Santos man is ostensibly doing everything in his power to achieve.
