According to Sport Bild, Newcastle United have shown interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich amid speculation of his future at the club.
Kimmich’s future at Bayern has been under question due to his decline in performance as of late as well as the drama at Bayern surrounding the potential signing of a defensive midfielder. Bayern have been consistently linked with a ‘number six’ as the duo of Kimmich and long-term midfield partner Leon Goretzka is no longer compatible under Thomas Tuchel.
Newcastle are one of the clubs said to be interested in the 28-year-old and have inquired about the availability of him, Manchester United have also previously shown an interest in Kimmich.
However, Kimmich is not interested in a move to the Saudi Arabia-owned club as he wants to fight for titles at the highest level, whilst he also feels comfortable with his family in Munich.
The 28-year-old’s contract at Bayern expires in 2025 and a decision is expected to be made soon on Kimmich’s future at the club as the summer transfer window would be the last opportunity to sell him for a significant sum.
