Newcastle United want to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Jorgen Strand Larsen as they seek a replacement for Alexander Isak.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Magpies are ready to meet Wolves’ £60 million valuation of the 25-year-old.
Strand Larsen is said to be keen to join Newcastle, though he is not agitating to leave his current club.
The Norwegian impressed with his performances in the Premier League last campaign, scoring 14 goals in 35 appearances.
His displays convinced Wolves to make his loan move permanent for £23m this summer.
However, Strand Larsen could be on the move again as Newcastle hold a strong interest in securing his services.
Wolves are reluctant to sell a player they have only just signed from Celta Vigo, but the lucrative offer could tempt them to sanction a departure.
Manager Eddie Howe is desperate to add firepower to the squad. Callum Wilson has already left St James’ Park and Isak has also been pushing for an exit.
Howe fielded Anthony Gordon as a number nine during Saturday’s Premier League game against Aston Villa.
Newcastle are also considering other names, including Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Paris Saint-Germain’s Goncalo Ramos.
They retain an interest in Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson as well, having previously pursued Benjamin Sesko before he opted to join Manchester United.
The Magpies have signed Anthony Elanga, Malick Thiaw, Jacob Ramsey and Aaron Ramsdale, but they still need reinforcements in multiple areas.
