Newcastle United will look to be ambitious in the January window, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
The Tyneside club do not appear to be in desperate need of signings right now, but Jones still thinks they could bring in a couple of fresh faces in the new year.

Is Eddie Howe content with his current squad?
He should be, as Newcastle are performing exceptionally well right now.
Currently, they sit in fourth place, above the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, while they have only lost one Premier League game this season.
Newcastle fans will now be dreaming about the club securing a Champions League spot, which does not seem impossible.
The one negative, however, is the Magpies have picked up a couple of injuries, with record signing Alexander Isak unlikely to feature again until after the World Cup.
What has Jones said about Newcastle’s transfer plans?
Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that he would not be shocked if a couple of new faces arrived at St James’ Park in January.
Speaking to GMS about Newcastle’s form and plans for the next transfer window, the journalist said: “I see no reason why it won’t continue. Newcastle will look to be ambitious in the January transfer window. I don’t think they’ll go mad, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring in one or two.”
Who could Newcastle sign?
It is probably going to be a difficult transfer to pull off, but Leicester City’s James Maddison seems like a possibility.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle are planning to make a fresh bid for the attacking midfielder in January after having a couple of offers turned down during the summer.
However, the same outlet states that they could face competition from Tottenham.
Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic is another player who has been linked with a move to St James’ Park, with one recent report claiming that Newcastle are willing to pay up to €45m (£38.6m) for his services.
Like Maddison, Pulisic was also a target for the Magpies during the summer, so it would not be a surprise if they did make an approach for him in January.
Since arriving at Newcastle, most of Howe’s signings have been players with Premier League experience, which includes the likes of Kieran Trippier, Dan Burn and Nick Pope. With that in mind, then, it is not a shock to hear that Maddison and Pulisic are two individuals who the 44-year-old is currently looking at.
