Manuel Neuer recently returned to action for Bayern Munich after a long spell on the sidelines, but he will not be making his comeback for the German national team any time soon.
The 37-year-old veteran goalkeeper confirmed at a press conference on Tuesday that he will not be traveling to Germany’s national team camp for the matches against Turkey and Austria later this month.
“Julian Nagelsmann and I are in contact, we spoke after the Dortmund game. The fact is that I won’t travel with the national team and will use the time here,” Neuer told reporters.
“We talked openly about everything. I will do everything to be back next year.”
When asked about his future with the national team, Neuer said:
“Everything that comes after my injury is a bonus. I will always line up to play. I always want to give the team everything I can and always be on the pitch.”
