Germany did not play a good game against Slovakia during the week – they were lacking motivation, team play and “the basics” you need in today’s game, according to experts and even headcoach Julian Nagelsmann.
That’s why it comes to no surprise that he revealed at the press conference ahead of the match against Northern Ireland, that he will make some changes to the starting eleven; according to “BILD”, Nagelsmann has decided to drop the following four players:
Bayern’s Serge Gnabry, Stuttgart’s Maximilian Mittelstädt and Angelo Stiller and Frankfurt’s Nnamdi Collins, who made his unfortunate debut against Slovakia, are all set to be on the bench for Germany’s second World Cup qualifying match.
This decision does not neccessarily have to the with the lack of motivation, but rather with the tactical plan Nagelsmann wants his team to follow in the upcoming game.
For those four players, the likley substitutes could be Jamie Leweling, Waldemar Anton, Robert Andrich and David Raum. The final starting eleven will be confirmed about one hour before the game starts.
