Werder Bremen striker Marvin Ducksch received his first call-up to the German national team today – and Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann had several reasons for including the 29-year-old.

“He brings a good amount of madness, which we need. He can be very valuable, especially as a joker,” said Nagelsmann, explaining the decision.

“He has now got a very good record again and has helped to stabilize Bremen with his performances.

“His set pieces are very good and he’s a good finisher,” Nagelsmann praised.

The fact that he formed a great partnership with current Borussia Dortmund striker Niclas Füllkrug at Werder Bremen also played a role in Nagelsmann’s decision.

“He knows ‘Fülle’ very, very well. That’s certainly another component that can help us.”

Ducksch has four goals and four assists in 10 Bundesliga games for Werder this season.
