Monaco yet to return with second bid for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun

RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins is reporting that AS Monaco are yet to return with a second bid for Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun (22).

Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Les Monégasques were set to return with a “big offer” for the USMNT striker. RMC Sport reported earlier in August that Monaco’s first offer was worth €40m, but Arsenal are holding out for a €50m fee for the forward, who last season flourished on loan in Ligue 1 with Stade de Reims.

As revealed exclusively by Get French Football News, whilst talks with Arsenal continue, Monaco are in talks with the player’s entourage in order to reach a provisional agreement on personal terms. Balogun’s preference is for a move to Inter Milan, but the Serie A side will struggle to pull off a deal due to financial reasons.

There are signs that Monaco have been put off by Arsenal’s significant asking price. According to Hawkins, the Principality club sounded out a deal for Lyon’s Karl Toko-Ekambi, however, the Cameroon forward is set for a move to Saudi Arabia. It, therefore, remains to be seen whether Les Monégasques will return with another bid.
