Since being spotted on crutches at Borussia Dortmund’s training camp in Marbella, Spain, the downtime of BVB fullback Thomas Meunier has thus far been closely guarded by his German club. Patrick Berger of German broadcaster Sport1 now claims that the muscle tear, which Dortmund has made public, will keep the 31-year-old off the pitch for at least six weeks.
Dortmund still maintain plenty of options at the right-back position. Marius Wolf and Felix Passlack have plenty of experience in the role. Additionally, versatile defensive actors such as Niklas Süle and Emré Can have also deputized there successfully. The news does have some ramifications for Meunier’s potential transfer out during the current window.
It would appear that the Belgian international shall remain put for now.
