Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly agreed a deal with Chelsea to take over as their new manager at the end of this season.
According to The Telegraph, the two parties reached an agreement just hours after the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The Argentine’s staff of Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Aostino, Toni Jimenez and his son Sebastiano are all expected to join him at the club.
Pochettino has been out of work since being fired by Paris Saint-Germain in July last year. The Parisians won the Ligue 1 title and the French Cup under his reign but failed to achieve any European success.
The former Espanyol boss is now set to return to the Premier League where he enjoyed a highly successful stint with Tottenham Hotspur between 2014 and 2019.
The 51-year-old led the North Londoners to the 2019 Champions League final and also guided them to a second-place finish in the 2016-17 season.
Despite spending a prodigious sum on new recruits in the last two transfer windows, Chelsea have endured a disappointing 2022-23 campaign.
They are sitting in the bottom half of the table and are also set to end the season without a trophy.
The Blues have already sacked Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, with Frank Lampard now at the helm as interim manager.
However, under the English boss, they have picked up only four points from their six Premier League matches.
The West Londoners’ final three fixtures will see them take on Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
