Borussia Dortmund have dropped points in the pursuit of chasing down the top three when they lost 2-0 to Wolfsburg on Tuesday night.
It was a crucial game for both sides for different reasons. BVB were on a good run of form and just three points behind league leaders Bayern Munich before a ball was kicked. Wolfsburg are finally climbing the table and looking upwards after an impressive 3-0 away victory against Mainz 05 last weekend.
It was Wolfsburg who were the more convincing and ended up the deserving winners in this intriguing battle.
Speaking to Sky Germany after the game, Mats Hummels said: “We had five bad minutes in the beginning and then didn’t take our chances.”
Fellow defender Niklas Süle possibly summed it up best when he explained: “It annoys us that we started slow. That happens to us again and again and we lose crucial points as a result.”
