Negotiations between Bayern Munich and Rennes for Mathys Tel continue.
According to Sport1, Tel (17) has informed Rennes bosses and manager Bruno Génésio that he wants to join Bayern Munich – This comes after Bayern submitted an opening offer of a reported €7m for the French youth international, which was rejected.
Per the report, Tel has given Hasan Salihamidžić a verbal agreement following positive discussions. BILD reported earlier today that Rennes want a fee of around €20m for Tel, but it’s unclear as to whether this is a base fee or including bonuses. Bayern bosses and head coach Julian Nagelsmann see the Frenchman as one of the biggest attacking talents in European football.
There’s a sense of optimism around the Bayern camp that they will complete this deal given Tel’s desire to join the Bundesliga champions and similar to their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt, it’s all about reaching an agreement with the club.
Tel made his debut at 16 for Rennes last season and played 49 minutes across seven Ligue 1 games.
