Matheus Cunha has shared a post on his Instagram announcing that he will be leaving Atlético Madrid this January.
The Brazilian international was not included in Los Colchoneros’ squad for their Copa del Rey fixture against CD Arenteiro last night and Diego Simeone confirmed his departure in the post-match press conference.
The 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Estadio Metropolitano over the last couple of weeks and according to Fabrizio Romano, he will be moving to Wolves in the next few days.
It is believed that the Premier League side will sign Cunha initially on loan, with the obligation to purchase the player permanently at the end of the season for €50m.
The striker had a promising start to his career in an Atlético Madrid shirt following his arrival from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2021, but has failed to score a single goal this season in 17 games.
