Marseille’s Azzedine Ounahi attracting Saudi interest

Despite only joining Olympique de Marseille in January, Azzedine Ounahi (23) is already being linked with a move away from the Vélodrome, as reported by L’Équipe.

Ounahi was one of the breakout stars of the World Cup in Qatar. The Moroccan international reportedly attracted interest from around Europe, including teams from the Premier League and even Barcelona. However, he decided to remain in Ligue 1, switching SCO Angers for Marseille.

His first months at the Vélodrome were hampered by injury, and he underwent an operation in March. He is now returning to fitness and form, and under Marcelino has been deployed on the left of the midfield. Ounahi is still getting used to this role.

However, the Moroccan international’s situation is being monitored by Saudi Arabia. According to L’Équipe, Al Hilal and Al Ahli could make bids of between €15-20m. For now, there are no talks between the club, instead, intermediaries are sounding out the feasibility of a deal with the player’s representatives.
