Ligue 1 side Marseille are increasingly confident about landing ex-River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo as their new head coach following the departure of Igor Tudor, according to France Football journalist Florent Torchut.
A source close to the matter affirms that the parties are edging closer to an agreement, with OM hoping to have a deal wrapped up before the end of the week. Gallardo would become the 3rd Argentine to coach Marseille in 10 years after Marcelo Bielsa and Jorge Sampaoli.
Gallardo is excited by the OM project and Pablo Longoria and Javier Ribalta are convinced that he can smoothly enter the Ligue 1 world and achieve success.
A source close to the matter has further added that OM have accepted all go Gallardo’s demands, but there remains a level of doubt over whether or not the deal will ultimately get done because “a normal manager would have said yes, but he is not a normal manager… He has received a final offer, now everything depends on him.”
