Marco Verratti returns to PSG training following hamstring injury

Having been out of action since the start of the month owing to a hamstring injury, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti made his return to  full training for today’s session.

The Italian international was back in action on the Camp des Loges pitches ahead of the team’s trip to bottom-placed Angers on Friday evening. After a decisive win over Lens last Saturday, the league leaders now have a clear pathway to their record-breaking eleventh Ligue 1 title and sit eight points clear with seven games to go.

Verratti, who recently signed a contract extension to take his time in the French capital up to 2026, has made 22 league appearances this season. In his eleven seasons so far with PSG, the Euro 2020 winner will have only reached the 30-match mark in a league campaign once – in 2014/15 – having been hindered by repeated injury problems. His latest hamstring issue had surfaced in the defeat to Lyon two weeks ago.
