The German Football Association has suspended Manu Koné for two matches for the red card he received against FC Köln.
Koné was shown a straight red card for a dangerous foul on Dejan Ljubicic in Gladbach’s 3-1 derby defeat.
The suspension means that the French midfielder will miss Gladbach’s games next against Heidenheim and Freiburg.
Gladbach have declared that they will not appeal the ruling.
After recovering from a knee injury, Koné has featured three times for Die Fohlen.
