Manchester United linked with €50m move for Barcelona defender

Barcelona need to generate a significant amount of funds in the coming weeks if they are to land Hansi Flick’s top targets. For this to happen, multiple players could have to depart, including at least one heavy hitter.

It’s expected that at least one defender will be moved on by Barcelona. Ronald Araujo had been heavily linked with Manchester United, but he now looks nailed-on to remain in Catalonia. The Premier League giants appear to have moved on to another Blaugrana star, that being Jules Kounde.

FootballTransfers have claimed that Barcelona are open to selling Kounde this summer, and at the discounted price of €50m. The report also states that Kounde would be open to a new adventure, amid alleged frustration at regularly playing as a right-back, when he prefers to play centrally.

It would be a major surprise if Kounde was one of the players that Barcelona allowed to leave in the summer, and especially at €50m, given that he has been one of their better performers over the last nine months. Still, it cannot be completely ruled out if the player himself does push for an exit.
