As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United have Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Odilon Kossounou on their transfer list.
Die Werkself have enjoyed a phenomenal start to the campaign, currently remaining unbeaten in all competitions as they sit four points clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table. One reason for this has been their impenetrable backline; having just conceded 12 goals all season, they can boast the best defensive record in Germany’s top flight.
Therefore, Kossounou’s form has attracted the interest of many top European clubs. However, while Manchester United do admire his ability, he is not considered a top target for the club just yet.
The 23-year-old is on the Premier League outfit’s transfer list, but for now, they will continue to monitor his development. This would make a summer move far more likely, especially considering Kossounou is currently on international duty with Ivory Coast for the African Cup of Nations.
As for Leverkusen, he is a key player under Xabi Alonso, but with his contract set to expire in 2026, if a new deal is not found, then a potential departure in the summer would still see the Werkself receive a respectable fee.
