Manchester United are interested in Boca Juniors striker Mateo Retegui.
Despite bringing in Wout Weghorst in the January transfer window, Manchester United need to bring in a striker on a long-term deal. Weghorst only signed on loan for the rest of the season, and at the age of 30 he is only a short-term fix even if he does sign permanently.
If Weghorst departs in the summer, that leaves Manchester United with just Anthony Martial up front, with Marcus Rashford as a backup option, but he’s been more effective on the wing.
Now, according to Jeunes Footeux, Manchester United are interested in signing Boca Juniors striker Retegui. The 23-year-old has scored 23 goals in all competitions this season.
However, it won’t be an easy race to secure his signature with PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich among the clubs also showing an interest.
Retegui is already scoring goals at a senior level but also has plenty of time on his side. This is the type of player Manchester United need to bring in to lead the line, rather than continuously signing ageing strikers.
