Manchester City reportedly haven’t given up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, despite Real Madrid agreeing personal terms with him.
The England international is widely regarded as one of the best young midfielders in the world.
He has made tremendous progress in the last few years and looks to have a very bright future ahead of him.
All the top European clubs have been linked with an interest in the 19-year-old, but recent reports suggest Real have almost won the transfer race for him.
Marca claimed the Spanish giants are very close to finalising a deal after holding talks with the player and Dortmund.
But according to Spanish newspaper AS, Manchester City are still trying to beat Madrid to the Bellingham transfer.
The Citizens landed Erling Haaland from Dortmund last year and believe they can lure the 19-year-old to the Premier League as well. They boast financial muscle and also know how to negotiate well.
Ilkay Gundogan could leave in the summer window with his current deal at the Etihad Stadium expiring at the end of this campaign.
Kalvin Phillips arrived from Leeds United last summer in a £42 million deal, but his performances have been far from convincing.
Pep Guardiola’s side are looking add a quality midfielder this summer in the form of Bellingham.
And if they manage to sign the English footballer, it would represent a massive coup for the Premier League giants.
The midfielder is a great dribbler, possesses excellent ball control and is very capable of exploiting any openings in the opposition area.
But Real Madrid look to have the advantage now, having already agreed personal terms with him.
City must come up with a very special offer to change the player’s mind now.
