Sport Bild reports that Manchester City have made an improved offer for RB Leipzig centre-back Joško Gvardiol.
The offer is said to be worth €90m plus €10m in add-ons which Leipzig have yet to accept the offer as they want more realistic goals for the add-ons. However, it is increasingly likely that the deal will be completed and both clubs will ultimately come to an agreement.
Leipzig are in no rush to sell the 21-year-old as the sale of Dominik Szoboszlai to Liverpool earlier in the summer means they are in a comfortable situation financially. Gvardiol also has a release clause in his Leipzig contract worth €112m which is valid from next summer meaning Leipzig could wait to sell the defender until then.
However, Leipzig do want clarity on the future of Gvardiol before September 1st as it means they will then find a replacement. Leipzig have been linked with Castello Lukeba as a successor for Gvardiol and Lyon are asking for €30m for the defender.
El Chadaille Bitshiabu has already joined Leipzig and is left-footed like Gvardiol and could be a potential replacement.
