Man Utd Want to Sign ‘World-Class’ Star on Free Transfer

Manchester United are exploring a summer move for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, according to Sky Sports News.

The Red Devils have reportedly earmarked the Germany international as a potential addition to Ruben Amorim’s backline, as Tah is set to leave Bayer on a free transfer after the season.

The 29-year-old defender’s contract is expiring in less than two months, and he is believed to have no shortage of suitors across the Premier League, with champions Liverpool also registering their interest.

Tah, praised as ‘world-class’, has spent the last 10 years at Leverkusen and helped the club win their first-ever Bundesliga title last season.

According to Sky Sports, United are actively considering a move for Tah this summer, although they face competition from Bayern, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Real Madrid’s chances of capturing Tah could be boosted by the expected arrival of current Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, although the defender would face tough competition for minutes in the star-studded squad.

Tah has been a key player under Alonso this term, making 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

The 29-year-old has played every single minute of Bayer’s domestic campaign since mid-January and was handed the captain’s armband for their 2-0 win over Augsburg last weekend.

Tah was targeted by Bayern last summer, but the Bundesliga giants were unable to agree a deal with Leverkusen.
