Manchester United are likely to part ways with multiple players before the transfer deadline.
Jadon Sancho has been linked with an exit, and The Athletic claims the Red Devils are asking for £40 million to sanction his departure.
The club senses that Chelsea may make an approach for the England international, although his basic wages of £250,000 per week could be a potential concern.
Chelsea move for Sancho seems unlikely before the deadline
Sancho missed United’s Premier League curtain-raiser against Fulham with a minor ear infection, but there are doubts over his future at the club.
United are loaded with right-wing options at the moment. Alejandro Garnacho, Amad Diallo and Antony can all operate there.
The 24-year-old faces similar competition on the opposite flank. Marcus Rashford is an assured starter on the left wing while Garnacho can also play there.
Chelsea have been linked with Sancho, but a deal seems unlikely.
They signed Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers this month and are about to sign Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix.
The Blues may not pursue another option before the deadline. If Chelsea are interested in signing Sancho, they are likely to propose a loan with an obligation to buy.
The Red Devils are better off keeping Sancho until the turn of the year to assess whether he has a future under manager Erik ten Hag.
