Already on the mend throughout the pre-season and the current start to the campaign, Danish attacker Marcus Ingvarsten has suffered another injury setback that looks to sideline him indefinitely. FSV Mainz 05 revealed on Wednesday that 26-year-old had torn a knee ligament in training and would be unavailable for “several weeks”.

Ingvartsen had been struggling to find his way into the lineup this year, remaining on the bench throughout during league wins against Augsburg and Bochum. Rheinhessen head-coach Bo Svensson had been asked about his compatriot many times by members of the German press. The FSV gaffer often seemed to intimate that he didn’t see much of a future for Ingvartsen in his current system.
