Mainz agree to sign Bayern Munich star

According to Florian Plettenberg, Mainz 05 have agreed to sign Bayern Munich winger Gabriel Vidović.

When it was announced that Brajan Gruda had joined Brighton & Hove Albion earlier in the summer, there was cause for concern that the 05ers would fail to replace the 20-year-old, who was key to the club’s survival in the Bundesliga last season.

However, Mainz have been able to turn to Der Rekordmeister in their efforts to find a replacement for the German U-21 international.

As stated in the report, an agreement has been reached between Mainz and Bayern regarding a season-long loan for Vidović.

Mainz will also have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the campaign, having secured a €5 million option to buy in the 20-year-old’s deal.

It is understood that the winger will undergo a medical later today before making the move to the MEWA Arena.

With Vidović’s contract set to expire at the end of the campaign, the Croatian U-21 international has signed a new deal at the Allianz Arena, seeing his stay in Bavaria extend until 2026 should he return to the club at the end of his loan move.
