Lyon predicted XI v Metz: Jake O’Brien returns to largely unchanged side

Olympique Lyonnais manager Pierre Sage will pick a largely unchanged side from the team that beat OGC Nice 1-0 last Friday. Under Sage, Lyon are searching for their fifth consecutive win across all competitions and could create a six-point gap between them and the relegation zone.

Only one change to the personnel will be made by Sage as Jake O’Brien comes in ostensibly for Nicolas Tagliafico. However, the centre-back will not be played out of position and will line up in the middle of defence alongside Duje Ćaleta-Car. Ainsley Maitland-Niles swaps flank to the left-hand side, while Clinton Mata shifts right.

Saïd Benrahama starts again after Sage’s comments ahead of the game that urged patience for the loanee. The forward has looked promising in moments for his new side, but still needs game time with his new teammates to look fully adapted to the system.

Lyon likely lineup v Metz

Anthony Lopes; Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Duje Ćaleta-Car, Jake O’Brien, Clinton Mata; Orel Mangala, Nemanja Matić, Maxence Caqueret; Saïd Benrahma, Alexandre Lacazette, Ernest Nuamah. (L’Éq)
