Angel Gomes (26) has apologised to Olympique de Marseille manager Bruno Genesio for his recent performances, as per a report from Mohamed Toubache-Ter.
It was thought that the England international did not have a future at Marseille. He joined in the summer of 2025 following the expiry of his contract at Lille OSC. Expectations were high for the midfielder, but he failed to live up to them. He therefore left to join Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan mid-season. Following Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League, he returned to the Vélodrome, where the financial context at OM and the inability to recruit afforded Gomes a second chance.
In the opening weeks of the season, he has struggled, despite netting a goal against Paris Saint-Germain. The former Manchester United midfielder has been the subject of the fans’ ire in recent weeks.
Toubache-Ter understands that Gomes has apologised to Genesio and recognised that his performances have not been up to the level. He also promised to do everything to return to top form.
