According to Le Progrès, Lyon contacted Bruno Genesio to sound out his potential interest in becoming the club’s new manager following their heavy 3-0 defeat to Marseille. Genesio is newly unemployed following his recent departure from Rennes and has been viewed by many as the favourite to become OL’s new manager which would see him make a return to the dugout at the Groupama Stadium. The Frenchman was replaced at Rennes by Julien Stéphan.
Lyon’s new sporting director David Friio has contacted the former Rennes manager over a potential return to the club, but Genesio has yet to respond. The former Lyon manager wanted to take a break from managerial duties following a difficult spell at Rennes this season, according to Sébastien Denis.
Despite planning to take a break, Genesio still holds his former club dear to his heart meaning that a potential return to Lyon could convince him considering the club’s torrid situation. There’s no serious development in talks, but a potential return remains a possibility. Lyon’s dressing room has reportedly been in talks with Genesio to encourage him to return to Les Gones which could also persuade him.
