Bild reports that RB Leipzig’s pursuit of Feyenoord centre-back Lutsharel Geertruida has fallen through and their attentions will now return to Castello Lukeba.
Leipzig’s sporting director Max Eberl called off the negotiations with the Dutch champions as they demanded what was deemed too much for the 23-year-old. Leipzig reportedly offered €30m plus €2m in bonuses but Feyenoord rejected as they wanted close to €36m.
The club will now turn their focus back towards Lyon’s Lukeba. Negotiations with Lyon over a fee for the defender stalled due to the two clubs being unable to come to an agreement over a deal. However, it has previously been reported that Lukeba has made it clear to Lyon that he wants to join Leipzig this summer.
Leipzig kick off their season in the Super Cup against Bayern Munich on Saturday but it is likely that they will want to bring in Joško Gvardiol’s replacement by the time their Bundesliga season begins against Bayer Leverkusen a week on Saturday.
