Luka Modrić won his 6th Champions League as a Real Madrid player yesterday evening, coming on in the 85th minute to replace the outgoing Toni Kroos.
And despite rumours that the Croatian maestro’s future in the Spanish capital was up in the air, recent reports indicate that he is set to stay at Real Madrid for another season.
These reports come courtesy of well-renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, who gave the contract extension his ‘Here we go!’ treatment on his X account.
Fabrizio reported that Modrić rejected two different proposals that would see him increase his earnings due to a lack of interest in financial incentives.
Now all that is left to do is to meet and sign the dotted line, take some photos and announce the news to the world.
Another season in the Real Madrid shirt for Modrić would represent his 13th for the club, having scored 39 goals and 79 assists across 534 games at the club.
He will be looking to add to his tally of 26 major honours at the club, further extending his lead as the most decorated Real Madrid player of all time.
Firstly though, Modrić will be looking ahead to the summer, when he will be travelling to Euro 2024 with Croatia.
