Speaking to the media after announcing his 26-man World Cup squad, Spain head coach Luis Enrique discussed the players he is taking with him to Qatar as well as his role with La Roja.
“There isn’t a better coach than me in the history of world football. That’s what I believe, whether it’s true or not… well I believe it. I’m going to get a lot of stick (jokes), but I don’t care,” the Asturian said in quotes reported by Marca.
On Koke and Piqué
“Piqué was in the squad. He is one of the best centre-backs and has performed at a very high level. Within the list of 55, there are older players that I would have no doubts about counting on. What happened, I can’t control. With Koke, I have no doubts whatsoever. When he has that little injury and I see that he can be available. Koke is a guarantee for any coach. I have no doubts about that.”
