Having missed France’s 3-1 defeat against Italy at the Parc des Princes on Friday evening, Loïc Badé (24) is also expected to miss Monday’s UEFA Nations League match against Belgium.
Sevilla centre-back Badé was called up after Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana dropped out of the squad. Whilst for former AS Saint-Étienne defender is not suffering from a fresh injury, he wants to manage his load following his severe knee injury during the last campaign. After a discussion with Didier Deschamps, it was decided he would return to his club.
Badé would have been looking to profit from Fofana’s withdrawal by making his senior debut for France. However, L’Équipe reported pre-match on Friday that the Sevilla defender had felt pain in his right thigh just hours before kick-off.. As a result, he went for tests at the American hospital at Neuilly-sur-Seine. Those tests showed that the Frenchman would need time to recover from the thigh injury and so it is expected that he will not make his France debut during the current international break, as per L’Équipe.
