Dejan Ljubicic is officially out for the rest of 2022 with a knee injury from Ramy Bensebaini’s yellow card tackle in the Rhine derby. Köln wanted more than just a yellow card for the challenge, as their worst fears have now come true.
An official diagnosis was not given for the midfielder, who is off to an excellent start to the season with six goals in all competitions already. Coach Steffen Baumgart shared his concern for his team’s recent injury woes and said that, “We are slowly running out of players.”
He added that, “The injury to Dejo is bitter. He was in a really good mood and is one of our absolute top performers. I am very sorry for him personally.”
