Liverpool have suffered a transfer blow as their target Leandro Paredes is set to complete a loan move to Juventus this summer.
The Reds boss Jurgen Klopp had been adamant they do not need to sign a new midfielder in this transfer window. However, the 55-year-old reassessed his position and recently conceded his side require an addition in midfield.
The Merseyside club are currently dealing with injuries to several of their midfielders, with Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones all sidelined.
Calciomercato recently claimed that Liverpool were pursuing a deal for Paredes.
However, they have suffered a blow in their chase for the 28-year-old as he is now set to join Juventus on loan, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian giants have the option to make the move permanent for £12.7 million at the end of the season. The two clubs are still finalising the details but a deal is expected to be completed on Saturday.
Paredes joined PSG from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg in 2019 in a deal worth £36m. However, he failed to make a big impact at the Parc des Princes, scoring just three goals and bagging 10 assists in 117 total matches.
The Argentine footballer started only 10 matches in Ligue 1 last season, with injuries keeping him on the sidelines for the majority of the campaign.
Manchester United had also been linked with him earlier in this transfer window, with PSG demanding £29.7m. However, they now look to have lowered their valuation for the midfielder.
