Liverpool are showing interest in Athletic Bilbao forward Nico Williams ahead of the summer transfer window, journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed.
The Reds have reportedly made contact with the Euro 2024 winner’s representatives over a potential move and are among several Premier League clubs monitoring the winger.
While Arsenal and Chelsea are currently believed to be leading the race, Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle are also admirers of Williams, who has developed into ‘one of the best wingers in the world’ at Bilbao.
The Spanish international reportedly has a £50m release clause in his contract, which runs until June 2027.

Among Premier League clubs interested
According to Bailey, Williams’ representatives insist the 21-year-old is open to a move to England this summer amid growing interest from the Premier League.
However, he is not expected to make a decision on his future until Athletic Bilbao’s final league position is confirmed.
Should Bilbao qualify for the Champions League this season, there is reportedly ‘a real chance’ Williams remains at the club for another year.
The winger has been a key player for the Basque side this season, scoring 11 goals and providing seven assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
Liverpool are anticipating a busy start to the summer transfer window as they advance in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are now in talks with Leverkusen over the structure of Frimpong’s €35m (£30m) release clause and are also believed to be in discussions with the player.
