Italian tactician Roberto De Zerbi is one of the names on Liverpool’s list, as they start their search for a replacement for outgoing coach Jurgen Klopp.
Having been tipped to return to Serie A at the end of the current season, Sky Italia claims that De Zerbi is being closely followed by Anfield bosses.
The 44-year-old has gained many plaudits, following his diligent work at Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion and although De Zerbi recently commented on how much he missed the warm Italian weather, filling the void at Liverpool would likely be an challenge he couldn’t turn down.
The early favourite for the job is former Red and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso. His side currently sits top of the Bundesliga as they continue their fight with Bayern Munich for the title. Alonso remained coy in an interview on Friday, claiming he was only thinking about the final months of the season at his current employer.
Despite Albion’s inconsistent form so far this term, De Zerbi’s 68 matches in charge of the Seagulls has averaged 1.65 points per game. The club are also into the last 16 of the Europa League.
