Leicester City set to sign Cesare Casadei on loan from Chelsea

Liverpool interested in Aston Villa’s Boubacar Kamara

Liverpool’s quest to reinforce their midfield has landed them on Aston Villa’s doorsteps, with the Reds now pursuing a move for Boubacar Kamara, claims Foot Mercato.

The France international only arrived at Villa Park last summer on a free transfer after running out his contract with Olympique Marseille.

Having signed a five-year deal upon arrival, Kamara still has four years to spare on his Villa contract, so the Birmingham club are unlikely to sanction a departure this summer.

That is not to say the transfer will be impossible for Liverpool should they push to sign the Frenchman, but it will certainly be complicated.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have missed out on two midfield targets this summer, with Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia choosing to join Chelsea over the Anfield club.

As a result, Liverpool’s reputation in the transfer market has taken a huge hit, but they remain determined to reinforce Klopp’s squad with a new midfielder before the window closes.

However, selling clubs could try to make any possible transfer difficult for the Reds, who played their hand during deals for Caicedo & Lavia and got burned.

Liverpool agreed a £110 million deal for the Ecuadorian midfielder, but he refused a move to Merseyside, having pledged his allegiance to Chelsea earlier in the summer.

They also agreed to fork out £60m to Southampton for Lavia but the Belgian opted for a West London switch.

Clubs are now aware Liverpool have an eye-watering sum to spare, and considering the astronomical prices midfielders have sold for this summer, they could be looking to milk the Reds dry.

Injuries hindered Kamara from getting in full flow with Villa last term, restricting him to 26 appearances across all competitions.

However, his undoubted quality still makes him a shrewd acquisition, assuming Liverpool can pull off the transfer.

Valued at €30m by Transfermarkt, Villa could easily demand double that amount from Liverpool, who now cut a desperate figure in the market.

They have also been linked with a move for Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure, although they will need around £50m to convince the Eagles to sell him.
