Liverpool are now discussing a record bid with Newcastle United for Alexander Isak, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Isak has developed into one of the best strikers in world football since joining Newcastle, and naturally, clubs around Europe have been looking to take him away from the North East club. It’s been a tricky task so far considering Newcastle’s stance on the forward, as they are understandably desperate to keep hold of a player of his calibre.
Liverpool are in the market for a new centre-forward this summer after strengthening in other positions earlier in the transfer window. Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez have already arrived through the door, but with Darwin Nunez failing to live up to expectations, a new striker could be next on the agenda.
They have made a direct approach
Reporting on X, Romano has just reported that Liverpool have started club-to-club discussions over a record bid for Newcastle striker Isak. The Magpies don’t want to offload Isak and are hoping to offer him a new contract, but Liverpool have now opened talks to try and prise him away from St James’ Park.
“EXCL: Liverpool made club to club approach with Newcastle to discuss record bid for Alexander Isak. If Isak won’t be available, Liverpool can enter Ekitike race. Decision up to Newcastle as they never wanted to sell Isak + offer new deal.”

On his YouTube channel, Romano has confirmed that Liverpool have made a direct approach for the Swedish striker as they look to complete a blockbuster deal. GIVEMESPORT sources confirmed back in June that Liverpool were prepared to make Isak the most expensive recruit in British history, and it appears they are now trying to do just that.
David Ornstein has followed up with a claim that a £120m deal would be of interest to Liverpool.
