Liverpool in pole position to sign Man Utd and Arsenal target for £70m

Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to sign Brighton & Hove Albion star Alexis Mac Allister for £70 million this summer.

The 24-year-old has been a key member of the Seagulls’ first-team this season, helping them to compete for a European place.

He has made 30 Premier League appearances this term, registering 10 goals and an assist.

The World Cup winner is under contract at the Amex until 2025 but he could end up leaving the Albion in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United and Arsenal have been credited with an interest but Liverpool are said to be leading the race for the Argentine.

According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp’s side are favourites to secure a deal for Mac Allister for £70m.

The Reds have endured a disappointing 2022-23 campaign and are set to end the season without a trophy.

Their recent upturn in form could see them finish in the top-four, but the chances of that happening is very slim.

Liverpool are expected to have a very busy summer transfer window as they aim to make a comeback next term.

Reinforcements in midfield look to be their main priority and they have been linked with several big names so far.

The Merseyside giants were linked with an interest in Jude Bellingham but later pulled out of the race due to the enormous transfer fee.

Now Mac Allister has emerged as the priority target for them. If they agree to pay £70m for the 24-year-old, it would make him their third highest transfer in the club’s history behind only Darwin Nunez and Virgil van Dijk.
