Liverpool ‘Backing’ Arne Slot After Man City Loss

Liverpool are maintaining their trust in Arne Slot despite their heavy defeat to Man Cuty and disappointing start to the season, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Premier League title holders have lost five of their last six games in the competition, including a 3-0 humbling at Manchester City last weekend, which saw Liverpool concede three goals for the third time in the last five games.

Despite the manner of the defeat, internally the Reds believe the situation remains ‘absolutely under control’ and continue to support Slot, who spent a club-record £415m on new signings last summer.

Romano says Liverpool still believe the Dutchman is the right man to help the team overturn their difficult run of results and are not in contact with any other manager at the moment.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Liverpool continue to support Slot amid their difficult start to the Premier League season:

“It’s been a complicated start to the season for Liverpool. But what I can say is that the information arrives very clear. Liverpool keep backing the manager Arne Slot. Liverpool keep supporting the coach.

“Liverpool keep believing Arne Slot is the right man for this job, is the right man to fix the situation, is the right man to help this team perform after many signings, after many changes, after many different things compared to last season, and so Liverpool maintain their confidence in the manager.

“There is no contact with any other agent or representative of different manager, there is full trust in Arne Slot from the players and from the club.

“So the situation remains absolutely 100% under control, and Liverpool have absolutely no intention to change anything.”

Slot took charge at Anfield in the summer of 2024, replacing Jurgen Klopp, and won the Premier League title on his first attempt, finishing 10 points ahead of main rivals Arsenal.

Eleven games into the new campaign, Liverpool have already lost more games (five) than they did throughout the entirety of last Premier League season (four), with their defensive record a particular point of concern.

The Reds have conceded 17 goals – 12 more than league leaders Arsenal – with Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and summer signing Milos Kerkez struggling for form this season.

Sitting eighth in the Premier League after 11 games, Liverpool next host Nottingham Forest following the international break on 22 November.
