LOSC Lille are in advanced negotiations to sign LASK’s Japanese forward Keito Nakamura, as per a report by Foot Mercato.
Liverpool have also been showing interest in the talented Japanese attacker this summer. They have also had an offer worth €7 million – which would also see him remain at LASK on loan next season – turned down by the Austrian outfit.
Despite interest from Bundesliga giants Eintracht Frankfurt, Lille have moved ahead in the transfer race.
Les Dogues are said to be closer to meeting LASK’s valuation of €11 million – which would be a record sale for the Austrian club.
Nakamura, 23, grabbed everyone’s attention with an excellent 2022/23 campaign, where he amassed 14 goals and seven assists in Austrian Bundesliga.
Lille are in the market for a new left-winger following the departure of Jonathan Bamba to Celta Vigo.
Nakamura is a like-for-like replacement, and his higher ceiling would help Paulo Fonseca’s side challenge for trophies next season.
Having already recruited Iceland prodigy Hakon Arnar Haraldsson this summer, Lille are now looking to add another exciting talent in Nakamura, who made his international debut with Japan earlier this year.
The Ligue 1 giants have welcomed Samuel Umtiti on a free transfer in this window but have seen some notable departures, including Timothy Weah, Bamba and Jose Fonte.
Star striker Jonathan David also could be on his way out of Lille amid heavy exit speculation.
The Canadian international has decided to pursue a new challenge after growing in stature as one of Europe’s best young centre-forwards.
Juventus are said to be exploring a move for David, however, their priority is Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
