Bayer Leverkusen have announced that 18-year-old Francis Onyeka has signed a contract extension and will spend the upcoming season out on loan.
Francis Onyeka has signed a contract extension with Bayer 04 Leverkusen until 2028, the club announced on Tuesday.
Die Werkself also revealed that the 18-year-old midfielder will spend the upcoming season on loan at VfL Bochum, who were relegated from the Bundesliga in the 2024/25 campaign.
Onyeka made his senior debut last season and was a key figure in Leverkusen’s U19 side that reached the final of the German U19 Championship.
“Francis Onyeka has developed into an outstanding player within our youth setup over the past few years,” said Bayer 04 managing director for sport Simon Rolfes.
“He will continue to improve in Bochum through regular appearances at a high level. VfL are getting a fantastic talent who, the following year, could take the next step and become a player with excellent potential at Bayer 04.”
