Germany’s red company team have apparently secured one of their primary targets for the left-rail. Benfica wingback has evidently been convinced to join die Werkself on a free transfer. Germany’s preeminent footballing publication is confirming a report from Fabrizio Romano that the 27-year-old has passed his Leverkusen medical and will sign a new deal shortly.

Grimaldo – valued at €25 million in the latest transfermarkt listings – constitutes quite the coup for Bayer. Kicker reports that one of former Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt’s top performers will receive a deal similar to his contract demands at Benfica; a €6 million annual salary and a €12 million signing bonus.
