Karim Bellarabi was unavailable on Matchday 2 due to thigh problems, but he’s now out for at least 6 weeks due to an external meniscus tear on his left knee. The 32-year-old winger needs surgery after suffering the injury during a training session, joining a growing Leverkusen injury list.
Florian Wirtz is still recovering from his ACL injury, while midfielder Robert Andrich is out with a bruise. Amine Adli is also unavailable until October with a broken collarbone. Leverkusen are winless in the 2022/23 campaign with two quick Bundesliga losses and an early exit in the DFB-Pokal.
